A webinar by IMCD Indonesia and USP
The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is an independent, non-profit scientific organisation that sets globally recognised standards for the quality, safety, and performance of medicines, dietary supplements, and food ingredients. In Indonesia, USP’s standards play an important role in supporting regulatory compliance and product quality across the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. IMCD Indonesia, as a leading distributor and solutions provider of speciality chemicals and ingredients, collaborates closely with global partners and standard-setting bodies such as USP to help local manufacturers meet international quality benchmarks. Through technical expertise, regulatory support, and access to high-quality materials, IMCD Indonesia contributes to strengthening industry capabilities and promoting higher product standards within the Indonesian market.
Through this collaboration, IMCD Indonesia and USP are organising a webinar entitled The Consequences of Skipping PVT: Why It’s a Risk You Can’t Afford. This session aims to provide industry professionals with deeper insight into the critical role of Performance Verification Testing (PVT) and the broader implications of equipment qualification practices. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of the consequences of relying solely on enhanced mechanical calibration versus fully qualifying dissolution equipment, as well as why fully qualified dissolution instruments are essential to ensure data reliability, regulatory compliance, and consistent product quality. The webinar is designed to equip attendees with practical knowledge, technical perspectives, and international best-practice considerations that can be directly applied within pharmaceutical laboratories and quality control environments in Indonesia.
Webinar highlights
- Understand that both mechanical calibration and Performance Verification Testing (PVT) are essential components in achieving a fully qualified dissolution instrument.
- Recognise that the new DPVS formulation is highly sensitive to subtle changes and interactions in instrument set-up and operational parameters.
- Appreciate that instrument-to-instrument variability remains a significant factor affecting dissolution performance, even among systems that have successfully passed mechanical qualification.
- Comprehend the importance of parameter interactions, as individual parameters meeting mechanical calibration criteria do not necessarily guarantee overall system performance within acceptance limits.
- Identify USP personnel and key activities within the Asia-Pacific region.
Who should participate
- Laboratory personnel involved in research and development, manufacturing, and production.
- Scientists and managers from manufacturing organisations and contract research organisations (CROs).
- Quality assurance and quality control specialists, as well as auditors.
- Regulatory affairs professionals.
About the presenter
Joseph Eaton
Director, Global Standards Distribution, United States Pharmacopeia
Mr. Joseph Eaton is the Director of Global Standards Distribution at the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). Prior to joining this team, Mr. Eaton worked in USP’s laboratories for eight years, where he analysed reference materials, developed analytical methods, conducted trace metal analyses for elemental impurities, and supported the performance verification testing programme for dissolution tests. For four of those years, he served as a Senior Chemist in the Dosage Form Performance Laboratory, utilising Apparatus Types 1–6, as well as non-compendial apparatus such as the vertical diffusion cell. Mr. Eaton is the lead author of several publications on the variability of Dissolution Apparatus 2 and Apparatus 4 methods.
